Iran vows “painful” response to any potential attack amid escalating tension with Tel Aviv
Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani, stated that Iran will respond seriously and painfully to any potential attack, confirming that the armed forces were prepared with response plans. Israel-Iran tension has increased recently, with both parties taking precautionary steps and exchanging warnings of harsh reactions in the event of any military operation.
In this context, Tamir Hayman, the former head of Israel’s Military Intelligence Directorate, noted that “Tel Aviv came close twice during the past week to striking Tehran as a result of mutual miscalculation.” He explained in an interview with Radio 103FM that Iran’s preparations necessitated coordination between Israel and the United States, pointing out that a misreading of mutual movements was behind the recent escalations.
Hayman pointed to an active influence campaign toward Iran, which includes information operations, cyber warfare, and local sabotage, stating that these activities caused confusion within the Iranian information space. He also indicated that scenarios for changing the Iranian leadership are no longer ruled out, and that the emergence of a bolder leader could change the strategic calculations in the region.
