Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN)—A U.S. official urged CNN on Wednesday for some individuals at the largest U.S. military base in the Middle East to leave the base, in what appears to be a precautionary measure following the Trump administration’s study of the possibility of taking military action against Iran.
The official described the directive for some individuals to leave Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar as a “precautionary measure” given the current escalating tensions in the region.
In a related context, the State of Qatar said in a statement issued by the International Media Office today, Wednesday, that it “deeply regrets the existence of baseless media reports regarding the departure of diplomatic figures from some countries from Doha.”
