Yemeni Presidency mourns the passing of the struggle leader Ali Salem al-Beidh
The Presidency of the Republic of Yemen announced today, Saturday, the passing of the former Vice President of the Presidential Council, Ali Salem al-Beidh, at the age of 86, leaving behind a long legacy of sincere dedication in serving his country and people.
In an official statement, the Yemeni Presidency said: “With profound sadness and sorrow, the Presidency of the Republic of Yemen mourns to all the sons of our great Yemeni people the death of its son, the national fighter Ali Salem al-Beidh, Vice President of the Presidential Council and former Secretary-General of the Central Committee of the Yemeni Socialist Party.”
The Presidency added that “with the passing of the national figure Ali Salem al-Beidh, the nation has lost one of the most prominent leaders and political icons in contemporary Yemeni history, and a sincere partner in achieving Yemeni unification on May 22, 1990, embodying at that time the aspirations of Yemenis for a single state based on national partnership and the rule of law.”
The Yemeni state leadership emphasized that the passing of Ali Salem al-Beidh does not only recall bright pages of an honest national personality, but also opens a door for responsible reflection on the path of the national movement, the lessons of fair partnership that the deceased al-Beidh upheld, and the importance of addressing our national issues with an institutional spirit and dialogue, in a way that preserves the dignity of Yemenis, protects their sacrifices, and establishes the bright future they all deserve.
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council offered his deepest condolences and sincere sympathies to the family of the deceased, his comrades, and his loved ones, praying to Almighty God to cover him with His vast mercy, grant him a place in His spacious gardens, and inspire his family, relatives, and loved ones with patience and solace.
In this context, the Presidency of the Republic of Yemen announced official mourning and the flying of flags at half-mast for three days, as well as the opening of books of condolence at home and abroad for the passing of the great deceased.
