On Sunday, President Ahmed Al-Sharaa emphasized the importance of Syria’s sovereignty over its entire territory during a meeting with the U.S. Envoy, Tom Barrack, as announced by the Presidency. This comes as government forces make progress in confrontations with Kurdish forces, which are withdrawing from strategic cities and facilities in the north and east of the country.
The Syrian President said: “I have directed a ceasefire and advise the Arab tribes in Al-Jazira to remain calm,” according to the Presidency.
During the meeting, which was attended by Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani, Al-Sharaa affirmed Syria’s unity and sovereignty over all its lands, the importance of dialogue in the current stage, and the building of Syria with the participation of all Syrians.
The Syrian President stressed: “We adhere to the unity of Syria and its sovereignty over its entire territory,” adding, “We emphasize the importance of dialogue in the current stage.”
The meeting addressed ways to enhance economic cooperation between Syria and the United States, as well as recent regional analyses.
Escalation in the Syrian file continues, as the Syrian army has managed to enter Kurdish areas amid ongoing clashes with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on multiple fronts.
Meanwhile, the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday the start of its units’ deployment in the city of Al-Thawrah (Tabqa), west of Raqqa province, stating in a press release: “This deployment comes within the framework of ongoing efforts to protect citizens, enhance security and stability, and ensure the safety of vital facilities and public and private property, in full coordination with the Syrian Arab Army forces deployed in the city.”
