Mazloum Abdi Reveals a “Civil War Plot” and Confirms Ceasefire Agreement with Damascus
Mazloum Abdi, the Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), stated on Sunday evening that “a plot to ignite a civil war was devised by several parties,” considering that this war “was imposed upon them.”
Mazloum Abdi published a message following the signing of an agreement with Damascus today, noting that “tomorrow we will head to Damascus and meet to discuss these issues.”
The SDF Commander-in-Chief added: “We have offered many martyrs and wounded in this war, and we wanted to prevent the number of civilian casualties from rising; therefore, we withdrew from the Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa regions toward Hasakah, and the agreement was reached on this basis.”
Mazloum Abdi continued: “We held several meetings to stop the war, including the Erbil meeting.”
This statement comes in light of President al-Sharaa signing an agreement earlier today with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which stipulates a comprehensive ceasefire, their full integration into Syrian state institutions—particularly the army and security apparatus—and the extension of state sovereignty.
