Astronauts capture breathtaking views of sunlight above Earth from the International Space Station
Cosmonaut Sergey Kud-Sverchkov captured stunning scenes of sunlight above planet Earth, as seen from the International Space Station.
The sunlight was captured during one of the strongest solar storms the system has witnessed in more than 20 years, according to the Space Weather Prediction Center of the National Weather Service.
The last solar storm of similar intensity was recorded in October 2003. Sunlight is considered a result of solar storms that emit high-speed charged solar particles which interact with Earth’s atmosphere, creating radiant light displays in dazzling colors.
