Gargash: The UAE has always adopted a policy of peace and has never been a supporter of wars

Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the President of the United Arab Emirates, confirmed on Sunday that the approaching agreement between the United States and Iran represents a real opportunity to close the chapter of war and open a new political path in the region, amid growing hopes that the Middle East may move toward a more stable phase after months of tension and escalation.

In a post on the platform “X,” Gargash said that the UAE leadership has handled this crisis and its repercussions with exceptional wisdom and balance, praising an approach that combined firmness in positions with political flexibility when needed.

He added: “We can only commend our wise leadership’s handling of this crisis and its repercussions. It combined wisdom and firmness in positions, and flexibility when the situation required it,” stressing that the UAE has never been a supporter of wars and will remain committed to the option of peace and stability, while maintaining its commitment to defending the homeland and safeguarding its sovereignty and interests.

Gargash’s statements come amid increasing indications of a near understanding between Washington and Tehran, with expectations that any forthcoming agreement could reduce regional tensions and pave the way for new political and security arrangements.

Gargash: The UAE will remain committed to the security of the Arabian Gulf

In a related context, Gargash reaffirmed the constants of UAE policy toward regional security, stressing that stability in the Arabian Gulf is a fundamental pillar for prosperity and shared development.

He said in a statement on Saturday that the UAE will remain committed to the security and stability of the Arabian Gulf, as it is the basis for shared prosperity among the countries of the region.

He added that the current geopolitical phase, with its complexities and accelerating challenges, requires reliance on three main pillars: effective diplomacy, strong economic ties, and credible deterrence, in order to safeguard national interests and enhance regional stability.

Al-Yamahi denounces misleading claims targeting the UAE and Qatar

Within the framework of Arab support for Gulf positions calling for stability and international cooperation, Arab Parliament President Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi denounced circulating media reports and claims he described as misleading, targeting the United Arab Emirates and the State of Qatar.

Al-Yamahi stressed in a statement that these claims lack the minimum standards of accuracy and objectivity, and represent an attempt to undermine the efforts, standing, and active role of both countries in supporting security and stability at the regional and international levels.

He noted that such claims do not serve the interests of the peoples of the region, but rather contribute to spreading confusion and distorting facts, at a time when current challenges require greater Arab cooperation and solidarity to address ongoing crises and strengthen the foundations of development and peace.

He added that the UAE and Qatar have played important roles in supporting initiatives and diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving conflicts and addressing crises, reflecting a clear commitment to cooperation, partnership, and joint action to achieve development and prosperity for the peoples of the region.

Al-Yamahi stressed the Arab Parliament’s rejection of media disinformation campaigns and attempts to sow division, affirming that respect for state sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs are fundamental pillars for maintaining the security and stability of the region.

Al-Budaiwi condemns misleading media campaigns against the UAE and Qatar

For his part, Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), expressed his condemnation and denunciation of what he described as misleading media allegations and unverified information targeting the UAE and Qatar, and seeking to cast doubt on their positions and their role in supporting regional and international stability.

Al-Budaiwi affirmed that these claims lack credibility and objective foundations, and come as part of attempts to undermine the efforts exerted by GCC states to consolidate security and stability and strengthen dialogue and cooperation in the region.

He explained that the UAE and Qatar have, over recent years, provided a prominent model in supporting diplomatic initiatives, bridging viewpoints, and enhancing international cooperation to address regional crises and challenges, reflecting a responsible approach aimed at consolidating security and achieving development and prosperity.

Al-Budaiwi concluded by stressing that GCC states are continuing steadily on their path of strengthening stability and joint cooperation, affirming that any campaigns targeting or maligning any member state will not affect the cohesion and unity of the Council, nor its continued pivotal role in supporting regional and international security, stability, and prosperity.
