Saudi Electricity Regulatory Authority announces the restoration of electrical service in the Eastern Province
The Saudi Electricity Regulatory Authority announced, after verifying service stability, the full restoration of electrical service to all consumers affected by the outage that occurred in parts of the Eastern Province yesterday, Thursday, December 18, which began at 2:09 PM, with power returning sequentially at 5:49 PM.
The Authority confirmed that it commenced its regulatory duties immediately upon the occurrence of the power outage, directing the Saudi Electricity Company to conduct an urgent technical and operational investigation to determine the causes that led to this interruption, and to submit a detailed report on the investigation’s results and the corrective measures taken to help limit the recurrence of power outages in the future.
The Saudi Electricity Regulatory Authority indicated that it would verify the extent of the electrical service provider’s commitment to the service level standards manual (Guaranteed Standards) and take the necessary actions regarding any breach of those standards, including automatically compensating eligible consumers without the need to submit a claim.
The Authority explained that these measures come within the framework of its statutory role in regulating the electricity sector, monitoring the performance of electricity service providers, protecting consumer rights, and enhancing the reliability of the electrical supply in all regions of the Kingdom.
