American Tien Wins 2025 Next Gen ATP Finals Title in Jeddah

Deputy Minister of Sport Bader bin Abdulrahman Al-Qadi crowned American Lerner Tien as the champion of the 2025 Next Gen ATP Finals yesterday evening, Sunday. The tournament was hosted by the Kingdom for the third time in Jeddah.

The tournament took place from December 17 to 21, organized by the Saudi Tennis Federation and the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), under the supervision of the Ministry of Sport and sponsored by the Public Investment Fund.

American Lerner Tien achieved a decisive victory over his Belgian opponent Alexander Blockx with a three-set sweep to claim the title, earning more than half a million dollars from a total prize pool exceeding two million dollars.

The match, which saw distinguished local and international public and media presence, was held before a crowd at the King Abdullah Sports City arena throughout the five-day tournament.

Lerner Tien joins the list of champions crowned on Saudi soil for the Next Gen ATP Finals, alongside Serbian Hamad Medjedovic, who won the first edition against Frenchman Arthur Fils, and Brazilian Fonseca, who won the second edition by defeating Lerner Tien—the winner of this third edition against Belgian Alexander Blockx.

The tournament featured eight elite young tennis stars: Lerner Tien (USA), Martin Landaluce (Spain), Rafael Jodar (Spain), Nicolai Budkov Kjær (Norway), Alexander Blockx (Belgium), Dino Prižmić (Croatia), Nishesh Basavareddy (USA), and Justin Engel (Germany).

The Kingdom’s hosting of this event is a continuation of the significant successes achieved in hosting major continental and global sporting events under the supervision of the Ministry of Sport, which seeks to effectively contribute to achieving the sports objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
