Gold, Silver, and Platinum Rise to Record New Highs
Gold, silver, and platinum metals continued to record new record levels, as gold surpassed the $4,500 per ounce level today for the first time, while silver and platinum also rose to historic levels in global markets.
Spot gold rose by approximately 0.1% to $4,493.76 per ounce by 10:32 GMT, after hitting a record high of $4,525.19 earlier. U.S. gold futures for February delivery also climbed 0.3% to a record $4,520.
Spot silver increased by 0.9% to $72.09 per ounce, recording its highest level ever at $72.70.
Platinum also rose by 0.3% to $2,282.70, after peaking at $2,377.50 before giving up some of its gains.
In contrast, palladium fell by 2.5% to $1,815.25, retreating after touching its highest level in three years.
