Chairman of the Eastern Province Development Authority Approves Comprehensive Master Plan for Al-Bayda Governorate and Major Development Projects
His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province and Chairman of the Regional Development Authority Board, chaired the ninth board meeting today, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Eastern Province, Vice Chairman of the Board, and Chairman of the Executive Committee. During this meeting, the board approved the Comprehensive Master Plan project for Al-Bayda Governorate and agreed on the future visions and directions for the Regional Master Plan project and local plans for the Eastern Province. The new urban guide for mobile food trucks in the region was also approved, with the participation of Their Excellencies and board members.
The Governor of the Eastern Province emphasized that the rapid developmental movement and qualitative projects witnessed by the region reflect the great support and attention it receives from the wise leadership—may God protect them. He pointed out that this strong support has significantly contributed to enhancing the region’s economic and developmental standing.
Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz stressed the importance of coordinating efforts between government agencies, involving the active private sector, and working with a shared spirit of integration. He called for exploiting the region’s competitive advantage by creating an integrated developmental work environment that contributes to achieving the aspirations of the wise leadership. He also emphasized raising quality of life standards in various cities, governorates, and urban centers, and achieving sustainable development goals in a manner that keeps pace with ambitions.
Dr. Talal bin Nabil Al-Maghlouth, CEO of the Eastern Province Development Authority, said: “I express my thanks and gratitude to the Governor of the Eastern Province, Chairman of the Authority’s Board, for his wise guidance and continuous support for the Authority’s work. I also extend my thanks to the Deputy Governor of the Eastern Province, Vice Chairman of the Authority’s Board, for his diligent follow-up on active projects and programs.”
The Comprehensive Master Plan project for Al-Bayda Governorate extends until the year 2050 and represents a future roadmap for the region, aimed at transforming it into a logistical hub with a vital economy and a high-quality place to live, while providing multi-modal transportation and enabling it as a recreational destination in the Eastern Province. Total planned investments until 2050 are expected to reach approximately 59 billion riyals over five phases, implemented in productive coordination with relevant authorities.
Al-Bayda Governorate was officially announced in 2020 / 1442 AH and covers an area of approximately 1,551 square kilometers. The governorate includes several important neighborhoods, including: Al-Maha, King Fahd Suburb, Al-Anwar, Al-Orouba, Northern Housing, Al-Fursan, Al-Shorouk, Al-Amanah, Al-Matar, and Al-Hadaba.
