Khamenei posted a drawing on “X” depicting Trump as a sarcophagus, chanting “This too will be overthrown”

The official account of the Iranian Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, on the social media platform “X,” published a caricature depicting U.S. President Donald Trump in the form of a cracked sarcophagus, with a message saying: “This too will be overthrown.”

The drawing shows the U.S. President in the form of an ancient Egyptian-style stone sarcophagus inside a tomb decorated with hieroglyphics. The American flag and a seal of the United States were drawn as inscriptions on the cracked and crumbling sarcophagus. The text accompanying the drawing says: “Like Pharaoh.”

Another message posted with the drawing refers to historical and legendary kings such as the pharaohs of ancient Egypt and Nimrod, the biblical figure mentioned in the Book of Genesis, and the message warned that they “were overthrown at the height of their pride.” The message also refers to Reza Khan and Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the first and second shahs of the Iranian Pahlavi dynasty.

A post from the Supreme Leader’s account in Persian stated: “That man who sits there with arrogance and pride and judges the entire world, he should also know that the tyrants and the arrogant of the world, such as Pharaoh, Nimrod, Reza Khan, Mohammad Reza, and their likes, were usually overthrown when they were at the height of their pride, and this one too will be overthrown.”

Trump had said on Sunday that Iran, which is currently facing bloody protests and tension with the United States, contacted him Saturday to negotiate. Trump added: “Iran’s leaders want to negotiate,” and added: “I think they are tired of being beaten by the United States. Iran wants to negotiate with us.” Trump’s remarks come days after the president told reporters that if Tehran engaged in deadly violence against protesters, the United States “will intervene.”
