Welsh international player Jac Morgan signs for Gloucester team formation starting next season
LONDON – United News Network – UNN: Gloucester Rugby team announced last Tuesday that they are close to signing Welsh international player Jac Morgan to their ranks at the start of next season, thus overcoming the end of the player’s current contract with the Ospreys team.
Jac Morgan, the 25-year-old back-row player, was supposed to be out of contract with the Ospreys team, which he joined in 2021, at the end of the current season.
Morgan has 24 international caps with the Welsh national team, in addition to two caps with the Great Britain and Ireland Lions team.
Morgan said in a statement on the official Gloucester website: “I’m extremely happy to sign a contract with Gloucester Rugby team before the start of the 2026-2027 season.”
The player added: “It’s a great team with fantastic supporters. I know a lot of Gloucester players who speak highly of the environment there and I’m very excited about this future. I’m also excited for the challenge of playing in the Gallagher Prem.”
Morgan joined the Scarlets academy before becoming a first-team player in 2019, then moved to local rivals Ospreys two years later. The player played for the Wales team for the first time in their match against the Scotland national team.
Morgan is currently looking to recover from a shoulder injury, which may prevent him from participating in all of the 2026 Six Nations competitions. Morgan was the only Welsh player to participate in the Lions competition against Australia this year after Tomas Williams was forced to withdraw due to injury.
Morgan will leave the Ospreys team at a very unstable time for Welsh rugby, as it was announced that the number of professional clubs in the country would be reduced from four to three by the end of 2027.
