The Saudi Under-23 National Team is Crowned Gulf Cup Champion for the First Time in Its History

The Saudi Arabian under-23 national football team won the title of the 2025 Under-23 Gulf Cup after achieving a well-deserved victory over its Iraqi counterpart with two goals to nil in the final match held on Tuesday evening at Stadium 974 in the Qatari capital, Doha, officiated by Bahraini referee Ismail Habib.

Control of the match shifted to the Saudi “Green,” who took the lead with a first goal in the 23rd minute, scored by Abdulrahman Al-Obaid with a powerful and striking header, making the score 1-0. In the 43rd minute, the Saudi advantage was bolstered after Iraqi national team player Haider Abdul-Karim was sent off upon receiving a red card.

Immediately at the start of the second half, the Saudi team renewed its superiority by adding a second goal in the 49th minute, from Abdulaziz Al-Aliwa with a powerful shot from inside the penalty area, announcing the crowning of the Gulf championship title for the first time in its history.
