Taiz Governor “Nabil Shamsan” issued an urgent national and humanitarian appeal, calling for local and international action to confront the Houthi escalation and its humanitarian consequences, end the blockade imposed on the governorate for 12 years, and secure basic necessities for millions of citizens, amid worsening suffering caused by shortages of food, medicine, and fuel.
“Shamsan” called on the country’s leadership and government to take exceptional measures to support Taiz and provide its basic needs, while strengthening the capabilities of hospitals and vital facilities. He also urged local authorities in the governorates, businesspeople, and civil society organizations to launch a national solidarity campaign and dispatch urgent relief convoys.
He appealed to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, the United Nations, the Security Council, and international humanitarian and human rights organizations to provide assistance and take urgent action to halt attacks on civilians, lift the blockade, open safe humanitarian corridors, ensure the delivery of aid, and evacuate critical medical cases.
The governor affirmed that the people of Taiz remain committed to their right to life, security, freedom, and dignity, calling for peaceful marches that reflect the unity of the governorate’s residents and mobilize efforts to end their suffering.
