Simpson’s promoter describes Williamson clash as an imminent battle in Leeds

London – United News Network (UNN): Callum Simpson’s team described super-middleweight contender Troy Williamson as being able to “have a war if he wants one,” as the two weighed in ahead of their British, European, and Commonwealth super-middleweight title fight taking place this Saturday in Leeds.

The 29-year-old Simpson, who weighed in at 11 stone, 13 lbs, and 11 oz (75.9 kg), said: “He can have it however he wants it,” having turned professional in 2019. He added, “He’s been wearing a hat every week with the word ‘War’ on it. If he wants a war, we’ll have a war. He can have whatever he wants.”

However, Simpson emphasized he would win regardless of the nature of the fight. He said: “But I’m going to win regardless. I’m not coming here just to defend; I’m here to dominate. I want to show that I am levels above this.”

Simpson, who remains undefeated in his 18-fight career, secured a crushing victory by stopping Jan Ceko in his last outing, dropping him twice before reclaiming his position to win in his home territory of Barnsley.

On the other hand, the 34-year-old Williamson, who holds a record of 21 wins and 4 losses, will challenge for Simpson’s super-middleweight titles at the First Direct Arena in Leeds. The Darlington fighter stared down Simpson during their face-off, saying: “Just a normal man in my way that I need to take care of.”

A large number of Simpson’s fans are expected to travel from Barnsley to Leeds to support him, but Williamson denied that this would affect his performance. The British fighter said: “The fans can’t win the fight.” He added: “They can make as much noise as they want. But the only ones that matter are me, him, and the referee in the ring. That’s all that matters.”

the fight night program will be broadcast live on British television and via multimedia internet streaming.
