The number of the richest self-made people under the age of 40 rises to 71 billionaires globally in “Forbes” ranking

Forbes magazine revealed in its latest ranking the richest self-made people in the world under the age of 40, showcasing a list that includes prominent players in the world of economy and investment.

According to the magazine’s information, the wealth of the founders of the startup Mercor—Adarsh Hiremath, Brendan Foody, and Surya Midha—amounts to $2.2 billion. Private sector investors valued their startup, Mercor, at $10 billion last October.

According to the ranking, the Forbes list this year includes 71 people, with a total net worth of $218 billion. This is the largest number of billionaires under the age of 40 in the ranking since 2021. The list primarily includes entrepreneurs from the technology sector, in addition to those working in finance and investment.

According to the ranking, 38-year-old Edwin Chen, founder and CEO of the American AI startup Surge AI, is ranked as the richest self-made billionaire under forty. His net worth is $18 billion.

In second place came Wang Ning, the founder and CEO of the Chinese “Pop Mart International Group,” the manufacturer of “Labubu” toys, with a net worth of $15.7 billion. In 2025, the company’s stock price more than doubled amid the increasing popularity of “Pop Mart” toys.
