Release of “SDF” Members in Aleppo After Surrendering Themselves and Their Weapons

The Syrian Ministry of Interior has released a number of members from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) after they surrendered themselves and their weapons in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo, following the completion of the required legal and security procedures regarding them.
The Ministry announced, in a statement via its official channel on the Telegram app, that the release took place on Wednesday evening, coinciding with the conclusion of the verification processes conducted by the competent authorities on the personal data and records of the detainees by specialized legal and field committees.
The Ministry stated that the decision included those proven not to be involved in any criminal acts or participation in crimes against Syrian civilians, emphasizing that this measure comes within the framework of the state’s approach based on opening the door for return to those it described as “those who lost their way,” provided their hands are not stained with Syrian blood, and in line with the laws in force and adopted procedures.
The release comes in the context of the military operation witnessed in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, where the internal security forces managed to secure the defection of a large number of “SDF” members, following calls issued by the Operations Authority of the Syrian Arab Army to the organization’s members to lay down their arms, with a pledge to secure them and take legal measures regarding them.
Video footage broadcast by Al Jazeera Mubasher from Aleppo shows the released individuals leaving the detention sites, in a scene that reflects, according to the Ministry, the path followed to handle this file, based on individual settlements and legal verification, and providing the opportunity to return to civilian life for those whose involvement in acts of violence has not been proven.
