Florentino Pérez’s Decision at Real Madrid: 6 Players Sidelined After Copa del Rey Loss

Spanish media outlets have revealed that Real Madrid President Florentino Pérez has decided to offload six players who participated in the disastrous loss to Albacete on Wednesday in the Copa del Rey, led by Vinícius Júnior and the Turkish player Arda Güler.

Real Madrid exited the Copa del Rey in the Round of 16 after losing 3-2 to struggling second-division side Albacete. This was the first match for new coach Álvaro Arbeloa, who took over following the dismissal of Xabi Alonso, who had lost the Spanish Super Cup final to traditional rivals Barcelona.

“Defensa Central,” a website specialized in Real Madrid news, reported on Thursday: “Florentino Pérez is consumed by anger following the catastrophic loss to Albacete. Consequently, he has made the decision to expel six players who took part in that match.”
