American YouTuber “Speed” and UFC Fighter Ngannou Meet at Africa Cup Stadium in Morocco
The internet celebrity American YouTuber “Speed,” 20, and MMA fighter and UFC professional Ngannou, 39, gathered in a brief encounter in front of the stadium during the Africa Cup of Nations final match between Morocco and Senegal on Sunday evening.
The sidelines of the “Prince Moulay Abdellah” Stadium in Rabat witnessed a controversial confrontation that appeared largely awkward, and was considered by some attendees to be allegedly staged. Speed told Ngannou that he wanted to learn boxing.
It is believed that Speed was trying to set the stage for one of those internet influencer bouts, potentially featuring the powerful Cameroonian fighter.
Video footage captured the moment of the confrontation. Ngannou said, “I heard you were looking for me,” to which Speed replied, “Yes, I’m looking for you.” Ngannou added, “About what?” so Speed clarified his desire to learn boxing.
The UFC champion warned him that “it hurts.” However, he landed a relatively light right-hand blow to Speed’s stomach, who fell to the ground screaming, in a scene that raised questions about whether it was staged.
Speed then got up again, giving the African fighter an angry and exaggerated look. Ngannou said, “That’s just a little bit of what you can expect.”
In the end, the two men shook hands, before Speed said, “On Monday, I will have my revenge.”
Regarding the tournament that hosted this event, the Moroccan national team lost the opportunity to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title on its home soil and in front of its fans, following a 1-0 defeat against its Senegalese counterpart in the final match held on Sunday evening.
