The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un dismissed a Vice Premier during a ceremony marking the completion of the first phase of modernization at the Ryongsong Machine Complex.
In his speech at the ceremony, Kim Jong Un stated that the first phase of modernization faced “unnecessary artificial chaos caused by unprofessional, crude, and incompetent officials,” which led to tangible economic damage.
He pointed out that some officials were unprepared to lead the process of organizing industry and technically rehabilitating it on a national level, calling for an “end to relying on people long accustomed to defeatism, lack of responsibility, and passivity.”
Following these remarks, Kim issued an immediate on-site decision to relieve Vice Premier Yang Sung Ho of his duties, likening him to a “goat yoked to a cart.” However, the North Korean leader clarified that he did not consider the dismissed official’s actions to be “anti-party acts,” but rather classified them as an “accidental mistake in the selection of cadres.”
Kim Jong Un emphasized that North Korea’s current reality, as it strives for wealth and prosperity, requires “true pioneers and fighters” whose actions bring the country closer to a bright future.
He demanded that all leading officials adopt purposeful plans and scientific methodologies to build a “modern and advanced economy that guarantees the state’s future” within the current generation.
The ceremony, which highlighted efforts to develop mechanical industries in North Korea, was attended by several high-ranking officials and representatives of government institutions and the economic sector. Participants at the ceremony declared their full support for Kim Jong Un’s speech.
The event concluded with the cutting of the opening ribbon to signal the end of construction, with Premier Pak Te Song launching the event. Meanwhile, leader Kim Jong Un inspected the Ryongsong Complex, praising the steps completed by the institution to strengthen the foundations of an independent economy.
Kim Jong Un added that the current stage, witnessing stable national economic growth and the acceleration of regional development policies, necessitates meeting the increasing demand for equipment and machinery, stressing the need to continue scientific and technical research and strengthen work related to cadre preparation.
He also defined the goals for the next phase of the complex’s modernization and outlined detailed tasks to elevate the country’s mechanical industry sector to a more advanced level.
