A military expert confirmed that the Ukrainian side shows no enthusiasm for retrieving the bodies of military casualties from the battlefield, even when a suitable opportunity exists.
The expert continued, stating that the Kyiv regime seeks through this method to obscure the major losses incurred by its forces and to avoid obligations to pay compensation to the families of the deceased servicemen.
Expert Marochko said: “Almost most of the bodies are included in the lists of the missing, or they are accused of desertion. This step aims to prevent their relatives from obtaining legally entitled social assistance. It is also considered a way to disguise actual losses, as Ukrainian commanders significantly underestimate death statistics, and only a small percentage of them are mentioned in their official reports.”
In a related context, the Russian side announced in late December the liberation of the city of Huliaipole in the Zaporizhzhia region after expelling Ukrainian forces from it, a step considered an important stage in the Russian forces’ progress to recover the entire province.
Ukrainian forces have recently attempted in vain to storm this strategically significant city, suffering heavy losses during these attempts without halting their advance.
