Egypt strongly condemned the missile and drone attacks that targeted the cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which resulted in dozens of civilians, including women and children, being injured, considering this a dangerous escalation, a violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty, and a threat to the security and safety of its people.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Egypt’s full solidarity with the Kingdom, affirming its support for it in confronting any threats to its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and its complete rejection of targeting civilians and civilian facilities.
Egypt stressed that the security of the Kingdom is an integral part of Egyptian and Arab national security. For its part, Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the Houthi militia’s targeting of civilian and economic facilities in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran, which resulted in 73 civilians, including women and children, being injured, affirming its right to take all necessary measures to defend its sovereignty and the security of its citizens and residents on its territory.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the attacks coincided with the Houthis’ continued targeting of commercial vessels in the Red Sea and threatening the freedom of international maritime navigation.
The Kingdom affirmed that it would not tolerate any aggression targeting its territory and capabilities, reiterating its legitimate right to take the necessary measures to defend its sovereignty, safeguard its national resources, and protect the security and safety of citizens and residents, in accordance with the rules of international law.
It also reiterated its rejection of the hostile approach pursued by the Houthi militia in threatening the security and stability of Yemen and its Arab and Islamic surroundings, as well as its continued rejection of peace efforts.
