A Palestinian was killed and 7 others were injured on Sunday night in an attack carried out by settlers on the village of Hajja near Qalqilya in the West Bank, according to an “Al Arabiya” correspondent.
This coincided with an Israeli escalation in the Gaza Strip, where an “Al Arabiya” correspondent reported a series of heavy Israeli airstrikes on areas east of Gaza City, with no immediate details available on the targeted locations or the extent of the resulting casualties.
Earlier on Sunday, separate Israeli strikes had killed at least 4 Palestinians in Gaza City, according to medical sources who spoke to “Reuters.”
The director of Al-Shifa Hospital, “Mohammed Abu Salmiya,” said that a man and his 8-year-old daughter were killed and 6 others were injured as a result of an Israeli airstrike targeting a vehicle west of Gaza City.
For its part, the Israeli military said its forces had targeted a member of Hamas, adding that it was still assessing the results of the strike.
Later, medical sources reported that a person was killed near a telecommunications company east of Gaza City, while a 7-year-old girl was killed by Israeli tank fire at a school sheltering displaced families, according to the same sources.
These developments come despite the U.S.-backed ceasefire, which took effect in October 2025 and halted major combat operations, but did not end Israeli strikes in the Strip.
Hamas accuses Israel of violating the ceasefire and obstructing the implementation of the broader U.S. plan to end the conflict, while Israel says its operations are aimed at preventing attacks carried out by Hamas and other armed factions in Gaza.
