Yemenis from the southern governorates residing in the United States held a protest outside the United Nations headquarters in New York, coinciding with the meetings of the General Assembly. The participants raised southern flags and pictures of Southern Transitional Council President “Aidarus Al-Zoubaidi,” expressing their rejection of political arrangements that they said overlook the aspirations of residents of the south. The protesters called for the restoration of an independent southern state, and also criticized what they described as political pressure and economic and service policies that are harming residents of the south.
