Israel: Financial Official in Hamas, Mahmoud Abu Alwan, Killed in Strike on Khan Younis

As Israeli military operations continue in various areas of the Gaza Strip, the Israeli military and the Shin Bet announced on Wednesday the killing of “Mohammed Abu Alwan,” whom they described as the head of the finance department of Hamas, in a strike targeting him in the city of “Khan Younis” in the southern Gaza Strip.

A joint statement by Israeli Prime Minister “Benjamin Netanyahu” and Defense Minister “Israel Katz” said that the operation was carried out with precision and targeted the person they described as responsible for managing the movement’s financial resources.

The two officials considered the targeting of leaders and sources of funding part of a broader strategy to prevent Hamas from rebuilding its capabilities, stressing that Israeli forces would continue targeting infrastructure and field commanders in the Gaza Strip until the declared objectives of the war are achieved.

Meanwhile, as of the time of publication, Hamas or the Palestinian factions in Gaza had not issued any official statement confirming or denying the killing of “Abu Alwan” or clarifying the nature of the targeted site.

These developments come as Israeli air and artillery operations continue in various areas of the Gaza Strip, leaving extensive human and material losses and a severe shortage of basic necessities, amid repeated international calls to reach a ceasefire and lift the blockade.
