Saudi Arabia Announces Interception of a Ballistic Missile and a Drone Launched by the Houthis Toward Riyadh

Saudi authorities announced that they had intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile and a drone launched by the Houthis toward Riyadh. The announcement came after shrapnel from the interception of two ballistic missiles fired toward Makkah and Madinah fell in several areas across the Kingdom.

The spokesperson for Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense said that fragments of the two missiles fell in Wadi Al-Mughammas, east of Makkah, while shrapnel was scattered in the Al-Nuzha neighborhood of Jeddah, Wadi Jalil in Taif Governorate, and the Mustawrah Center in Rabigh Governorate.

Reuters reported that the Houthis had announced carrying out seven military operations using ballistic missiles and drones, targeting airports, oil facilities, and an airbase in Saudi Arabia.

The Houthis said the attacks targeted Riyadh, Dammam, and Najran airports; Khamis Mushait Air Base; Saudi Aramco’s facilities in Yanbu; the Rabigh oil refinery; and the crude oil pipeline transporting oil from the Kingdom’s east to its west.

In another development, Yemeni sources reported that the Houthi group had launched two missiles toward Lahj Governorate in southern Yemen. One targeted a government forces camp in the Al-Waht area, while the other landed near a residential neighborhood.

Meanwhile, the Yemeni government announced that the Houthis had targeted two Coast Guard facilities in the city of Aden with three ballistic missiles.

Yemen’s Ministry of Interior said that two missiles targeted the Coast Guard headquarters at the ministry’s main complex, while the third struck the Coast Guard building in the Al-Tawahi district of Aden.
