Egyptian Health Ministry spokesperson denies the arrival of Hantavirus in Egypt

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) — In response to questions regarding the possibility of Hantavirus reaching Egypt, the spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Health, “Hossam Abdel Ghaffar,” confirmed during a phone interview with Nile Radio, as reported by Al-Ahram Gate.

According to CNN, the spokesperson said: “No cases of Hantavirus infection have been recorded in Egypt so far, whether among arrivals from abroad or domestic cases.”

In the same context, “Abdel Ghaffar” pointed to the mechanisms of transmission, explaining that “the vast majority of infection cases are transmitted from rodents to humans, while human-to-human transmission remains rare.”
