Macron calls for the resumption of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz following consultations with Iran
French President “Emmanuel Macron” has once again condemned the rapid developments in the Gulf region, stressing the importance of safely resuming maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, following a phone call he held with Iranian President “Masoud Pezeshkian” on Wednesday.
The discussions, according to what President “Macron” published in a post on his account on the X platform (formerly Twitter), addressed Paris’s strong concern over the ongoing escalation, alongside the condemnation of recent Iranian strikes that targeted infrastructure in the UAE.
“I just spoke with Iranian President ‘Masoud Pezeshkian’ and expressed deep concern over the ongoing escalation, and condemned the unjustified strikes that targeted infrastructure…,” Macron wrote in a tweet, emphasizing the need to “safely resume maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.”
The conversation also clarified the reasons that led France to send the French aircraft carrier “Charles de Gaulle” to the region, at a time when the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb are witnessing congestion due to the current tensions.
