Clashes Continue Between Yemeni Forces and Houthis in Taiz and Lahj

The Yemeni Armed Forces are engaged in fierce battles against Houthi elements along the front lines stretching from Kahboub in the west to Al-Sharira in the east, in the areas located between Al-Wazi’iyah District in southern Taiz and Al-Mudharabah District in western Lahj.

Field sources reported that the “Houthis” deployed reinforcements, military equipment, and vehicles to the fronts of Al-Wazi’iyah and Al-Mudharabah, coinciding with intensive attacks on several axes, amid fierce clashes that are still ongoing.

Sources confirmed on Tuesday that the confrontations were concentrated in the areas of Al-Sharira, Al-Muhawalah, Al-Aghbarah, and Rasen, following a large-scale attack launched by the Houthis after their military reinforcements arrived. They indicated that the group is seeking through the escalation to achieve field gains before government forces complete their preparations for the next phase, according to information from Al Arabiya/Al Hadath.

In the same context, warplanes belonging to the government forces carried out several airstrikes on Houthi positions and gatherings on the Rasen and Al-Aghbarah fronts in Al-Mudharabah District.

Field sources said that the warplanes carried out a series of precise airstrikes targeting Houthi reinforcements and gatherings in the Mawiyah and Al-Jand areas and around Taiz Airport east of the city, in addition to Al-Sittin Street north of Taiz, where those reinforcements were on their way to the fronts of Kahboub, Al-Wazi’iyah, and Al-Mudharabah.

The front lines between Taiz and Lahj governorates in southwestern Yemen have witnessed, since Monday, the fiercest clashes between government forces and the Houthis, concentrated in the Al-Aghabirah area of Al-Mudharabah District and Ras Al-Ara in Lahj Governorate, coinciding with Houthi military movements and reinforcements on the Taiz fronts.

In Taiz Governorate, the Taiz Military Axis said that the governorate’s fronts had witnessed confrontations and military operations over the past 24 hours, including the targeting of a ballistic missile launch platform at Jabal Oman, east of Taiz.

The axis explained that government forces had repelled a Houthi attack in Bani Bakari on the Jabal Habashi front west of the governorate, and had also killed a group of Houthis during an infiltration attempt on the Air Defense front northwest of Taiz, noting that 12 Houthis were killed and 13 others wounded across the various fronts of the axis.

The fronts south and west of Taiz have witnessed continued confrontations since the beginning of September, with the lines of contact extending toward Lahj Governorate and the two sides exchanging airstrikes and artillery shelling.
