As Iran braces for the possibility of renewed U.S. strikes, the Iranian government has reiterated the importance of preserving national unity and avoiding division.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said the government and various institutions across the country were fully prepared to deal with all possible scenarios.
Mohajerani urged Iranians to stand together in confronting crises, noting that foreign interference in the country’s internal affairs was nothing new. According to the IRNA news agency, she added that Iran had suffered significant loss of life over the past year as a result of such interference.
She stressed that preserving unity, which she described as sacred, was the way to overcome crises that, she said, certain parties were seeking to provoke. She also noted that the Supreme Leader had underscored the importance of domestic cohesion, referring to what Tehran describes as Israeli interference and violations.
In recent months, several Iranian officials have emphasized the need to unite in confronting challenges, particularly amid deteriorating economic and living conditions and growing fears of renewed protests.
Since the outbreak of the war between the United States and Iran last February, U.S. forces have imposed a blockade on Iranian ports, preventing oil tankers from entering and leaving. This has deprived Tehran of its primary source of foreign currency and intensified the economic crisis it was already facing before the war.
