The Qualified Teams for the 2026 Saudi Arabia AFC U-17 Asian Cup Arrive in Jeddah in Preparation for the Start of the Competition
The arrival of the qualified teams for the 2026 Saudi Arabia AFC U-17 Asian Cup in the city of Jeddah has been completed, marking the end of the arrival phase and the tournament entering its final operational stages, in preparation for the start of the competition from May 5 to May 22.
King Abdulaziz International Airport witnessed the reception of all national team delegations, who were then transported to their accommodation sites according to organized arrangements supervised by the Local Organizing Committee for the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027, amid full readiness in logistics services, hospitality, and accommodation programs, creating an ideal environment for the start of technical preparations and official training sessions.
Preparations continue at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, which will host all tournament matches across its stadiums under a “single-site” system approved by the Asian Football Confederation, contributing to increased operational efficiency and enhancing the fan experience throughout the competition.
The tournament features the distribution of teams into four groups. The Saudi national team competes in Group A alongside Tajikistan, Thailand, and Myanmar. Group B includes Japan, Indonesia, China, and Qatar. Group C consists of South Korea, Yemen, Vietnam, and the United Arab Emirates, while Group D includes Uzbekistan (the defending champion), Australia, and India.
The tournament carries additional importance as it serves as a qualifying stage for the 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup, scheduled to be held in Qatar this December, which increases the competitiveness of the participating teams. It also confirms the Kingdom’s hosting of this edition—for the third time in its history—its growing status in organizing major continental tournaments, in light of an integrated operational system and direct supervision by the relevant authorities to ensure a distinguished edition that reflects the development of the sports sector in the Kingdom.
